(Tulsa, OK) Nearly 200,000 people were eligible to vote in today’s election to determine who will be the next mayor of Tulsa.

Current Mayor Dewey Bartlett, 66, and former Mayor Kathy Taylor, 58, are in what has turned out to be a bitter race for the office.

The Mayor-elect will be sworn in Dec. 2 and serve through 2016.

According to the Tulsa County Election Board officials, Tuesday's voter turnout was lower than expected. Election Board surveys by precinct show the turnout to be at approximately 20 percent of eligible voters who cast their ballots.

With 30 percent of the votes in, Taylor is leading with 6,589 votes to Bartlett's 5,506 votes.

We'll have the final results of todays race when available.
