Tulsa Opera will bring you an enchanting tale of adventure, friendship, and love in their performances of The Little Prince February 15 and 17 at Chapman Music Hall in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

The Little Prince by the prolific film composer, Rachel Portman, brings the enchanting tale in an adaptation of the much-beloved book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. A prince befriends a pilot (Will Liverman, baritone) whose plane crashes, and they take the audience on a magical journey of discovery.

Told with simplicity and poignancy, the prince learns to choose with his heart rather than his eyes, to find the courage to explore new things, and to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. The Little Prince is a colorful and inspiring tale for the entire family.

Boy soprano Dante DiMaio will play the role of the prince. He has been praised by The New York Times for the “disarming beauty” of his voice. He has performed with Opera Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and is a member of the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale. He has sung in over 14 different languages and recently toured in Singapore and Vietnam.

Oklahoma natives Kristee Haney (mezzo-soprano) and Christine Taylor Price (soprano) round out the cast in the roles of The Fox and The Rose. Columbia native Lina Gonzalez-Granados will be the conductor of this show. Libretto is by Nicholas Wright.

All guests may feel free to wear their pajamas to this performance.

The show is performed in English with English supertitles. Like most operas, all of Tulsa Opera’s performances are presented with surtitles, or translations projected above the stage. Surtitles make it possible for English-speaking audiences to follow the story and the action of each opera, no matter which language in which it’s performed.

The Opera, throughout its history, has articulated the desire of local leaders to create and maintain a world-class city. Tulsa Opera was the first performing arts organization established in Oklahoma.

Tulsa Opera will bring you two performances of The Little Prince on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 17 at 2:30 p.m. in TPAC’s Chapman Hall.
