Wichita’s newest gay club

A sexy little gay club has opened in Wichita and it’s located...“on First” Street, just north of downtown and near many of the other gay and gay friendly clubs.

“We saw a need in the Wichita area gay community for a place that was welcoming for everyone and to create an environment where anyone feels welcome to come and have a good time,” said Brad Thomison, club co-owner. “It’s a place where you can ‘meet up with some old friends or make new ones.’”

Location, location location…“We wanted to be near the downtown entertainment district to be closer to the other welcoming bars and make it easier for our patrons to enjoy all the gay nightlife in town,” adds Thomison. “We met with some of our colleagues and other bar owners and have sought their advice on how to be successful in this business.

“We believe that it’s important to be a part of the community and we are bringing something unique knowing that everyone will be able to find what they are looking for in one or all of the respective establishments.”

Thomison co-owns the bar with his partner, Joshua Pfister. They both feel the venture is “an investment of our heart as much as our pocketbook and we hope that shows when people come to see us.”

The unique 900 sq. ft. dance floor will be the main stage for drag entertainment and will have male and female dancers (Boomerang Boys & Boomerang Babes) every Friday and Saturday night as well as a live DJ. To top off the featured entertainment, on Sunday it’s the Audrey McQueen show beginning at 9pm and Thursday’s Brown Sugar show from10pm till midnight.

Club Boomerang’s hours are Thur-Sat 6pm-2am & Sun 6pm to midnight. It’s an “18 to enter 21to drink” club.

There is a 44 seat dining room in one part of the club where special events, private parties and meals will be served. “We’re taking a cue from a restaurant that we really like in Oklahoma City called ‘Gushers’ and opening an after-bar breakfast buffet on Saturday after bar times (from 1-3am),” added Thomison. “However, that won’t be open until later this summer.”

Club Boomerang played host to the Miss Wichita Pageant in May, just a couple of weeks after they opened.

“The owners, Brad Thomison and Joshua Pfister, have a vison for their new venture: to provide a fun and exciting place where everyone feels welcome,” said Derick Gonzales, co-owner of the Miss Wichita Pageant.
