New details arise in murder of Charlotte trans woman

Last Tuesday morning (September 11th), Derricka Banner was shot and killed. You can read about the initial story here.

While motives behind the murder were unclear, new details have helped clear questions.

This is so as, during the confrontation, Banner’s friend Tooker was hiding in the trunk of Banner’s car.

According to Tooker, the suspect, Motavious Sanchez Berry, met with Banner before the shooting and the two had sex.

Evidence found supports this claim as a video filmed 30 minutes before the shooting portrayed Banner and Berry having sex. Additionally incriminating, Berry happens to be the last person contacted by Banner before her death.

“He’s a coward, he doesn’t know who he is,” Tooker said according to reports. “He tried something, didn’t like it, and couldn’t live with it.”

With the evidence, Berry has now been charged with murder, armed robbery and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
