Openly gay State Senator Al McAffrey to make campaign announcement

State Senator Al McAffrey will hold a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, February 13 at 1pm to announce the outcome from his “exploratory committee” to run for U.S. Congress in the 5th District of Oklahoma.
In his press release, McAffrey stated, “Oklahomans deserve to have their voices heard and unfortunately that has not been the case for several years.”
McAffrey currently is a State Senator for Oklahoma’s District 46. McAffrey was the first openly gay member of the Oklahoma legislature, having represented Oklahoma’s House District 88.
In 2012, McAffrey endorsed Tom Guild for the same congressional seat. Guild could be one of his opponents in the primary election if McAffrey announces he will run.
The announcement will be held at the Oklahoma City Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W. Reno Ave. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
