(Oklahoma City, OK) State Representative Kay Floyd released a statement January 14,  after Judge Terence C. Kern of United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma ruled Oklahoma's ban of same sex marriage unconstitutional.

"I'm happy that today's ruling from the U.S. District Court was a step forward in all Oklahomans being treated equally and fairly," said Rep. Floyd. "It is time we start focusing on real problems facing Oklahomans and stop passing legislation that get caught up in lengthy court battles and cost taxpayer's money. Laws that discriminate against some of us, hurt all Oklahomans."

Floyd represents House District 88 which is in Oklahoma City. She is a native Oklahoman who has lived in House District 88 for nearly 19 years. Last year, she faced three opponents in a primary election, easily won a Democratic run-off  and sailed through the November election against her Republican opponent.
