SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah school district has agreed not to pull a book about lesbian mothers from its shelves again as part of a settlement with the American Civil Liberties Union.

The Davis School District school district agreed to pay the ACLU $15,000 for attorney fees, but the settlement is not an admission of guilt.

The ACLU sued after the district put "In Our Mothers' House" behind library counters in elementary schools and required parent's permission to check it out. It is a children's picture book featuring three adopted children with lesbian mothers.

District officials cited state law, which prohibits advocacy of homosexuality in its curriculum. The ACLU argued that it was unconstitutional to require parent's permission to check out the book.

The district returned the book to shelves in January.
