Gender + Equality Center to host annual benefit

The Gender + Equality Center will host a night of dancing and delicious food, and it all goes towards an important cause.

The 15th annual Pink and Black Ball will be February 15 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Oklahoma Memorial Union ballroom. This year’s theme is “City Nights and Patio Lights.”

Guests will be coming together as part of the OU community to support the Gender + Equality Center, a department that aims to raise campus awareness of various topics such as sexual assault prevention, LGBTQ+ programs, and social justice.

The Pink and Black Ball includes live music, dance floor, appetizers, a chocolate fountain, great raffle prizes and photo booth. Guests are asked to wear semiformal, pink and black attire.

"The Pink and Black Ball is the Gender + Equality Center's biggest annual fundraising effort. For fifteen years this event has supported the mission and goals of the GEC, when you attend the Pink and Black Ball you are supporting LGBTQ programs and OU Advocates on our campus." Gender + Equality Center Director, Erin Simpson said.  "In addition to meaning quite a lot to the GEC, it's a great event that is a lot of fun!"

Tickets for the ball are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased on-line through stubwire.com or can be purchased at the Oklahoma Memorial Union through February 15 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 pm at the Gender + Equality Center, Suite 247. The event will feature raffle prizes that include a $200 gift card to any Hal Smith restaurant, $50 gift card to TopGolf, Spring 2019 FIT Pas to Sarkeys Fitness Center, 1 night stay at the Embassy Suites, and many more. Raffle tickets are $1 each or eight for $5 and can be purchased at the event or through the Gender + Equality Center. Participants need not be present to win.
