As a member of the board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Jean Entriken wanted to help her friend, Amanda Hilton who is running for Woman of the Year. To support her efforts, Jean has headed up a team who will host an "LGBT prom" as a fundraiser.

"As a child I spent summers by the Fantasy Pool with my parents (mom and dad) and all their gay and lesbian friends," said Entriken. "I had no idea that that wan't 'normal' until I was in high school. Since that time, the gay and lesbian community has always been in my heart and I have actively sought ways to engage them in one of my passions...finding a cure for blood and other cancers.  As we were brainstorming events, we asked some of our committee members and dear friends (a lesbian couple) how to incorporate the LGBT community.  And they suggested a LGBT prom.  So - here we are."

The prom will be held on April 26, 2014 at the Monarch located at 579 W. Douglas in Wichita, KS. Our theme has an 80's kick and is "Totally! Over the Rainbow". The prom opens at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 2:00 a.m. Tickets are $35/single or $50 per couple. Ticket price includes dinner provided by Mascio's Catering, DJ from Northern Lights and Sound, and a signature drink in a take-away martini glass (refills $4.00).

Also available are prom pictures in front or the Rainbow Balloon arch (immediately available - $10) from TapSnap, Rainbow roses ($5), Silent Auction Items, and Prom Royalty Winners.  Nominate yourself or a friend for either King or Queen when you arrive.  Bring your friends for support and collect the most donations to win.

Tickets will be on sale starting 04/01/14.  They can be purchased, in person, at the Monarch or on Amanda's facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Amanda-Hilton-LLS-Woman-of-the-Year-2014/618360808212165
