Oklahoma City (AP) — Two Democratic state legislators say they're considering the race for the U.S. House seat in Oklahoma City.

State Sen. Al McAffrey and Rep. Anastasia Pittman both told The Associated Press on Wednesday they are exploring the possibility of running.

The 5th District seat has been held for four years by Republican U.S. Rep. James Lankford, who said Monday he plans to run for the U.S. Senate.

Several Republicans already have announced plans to run for the House seat, including Corporation Commissioner Patrice Douglas, former state Sen. Steve Russell, and former state Rep. Shane Jett.

Democrats who have said they will run include retired professor Tom Guild, retired federal contractor Keith Davenport and Seminole resident Marilyn Rainwater. Former Democratic Corporation Commissioner Jim Roth says he's also considering the race.
