RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno jeweler says he has gotten mostly positive feedback for a commercial depicting two women getting engaged.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1OaeGmQ) the ad has been playing on local TV stations and in movie theaters, indicating a growing trend of companies recognizing the purchasing power of the gay and lesbian community.

BVW Jewelers owner Britten Wolf says the small number of complaints have been from women who saw the ad on TV.

The commercial shows one woman proposing to another on a bridge overlooking the Truckee River.

Companies including Target and IKEA are gearing advertisements to the LGBT community.

A National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce report released in June 2015 estimates the combined buying power of the LGBT population to be worth more than $880 billion.
