In today's June 8 general election, the United Kingdom will have out LGBTQ candidates from every major party on the ballot.

According to Pink News and data reported by the major parties themselves, 222 LGBTQ candidates are running for election.

This number does not include minor, independent or fringe parties, so the total count could easily be higher.

This is a marked increase from the election held two years prior, which featured 130 out LGBTQ candidates.

A few parties also hold personal record highs this year besides the national record.

The Conservative party and Labour have each reported 42 out candidates, which is the highest figure for both.

Also of note is the Scottish National Party. While their number is only 10, this means that 17% of their candidates running are LGBTQ - the highest proportion of any major party.

With so many out candidates, the UK will be seeing more and more diversity represented in its government.
